Background
Since end of 1999, I’ve worked at Mac Guff Ligne, one of the top French
VFX production house. This company develops commercials, feature films, 3D
animation series. Thanks to this variety, I was able to develop skills
according to different schedules and different production environments.
I first worked as a CG artist on commercials like : Bouygues
Telecom, Crunch and Philip Morris. Then I integrated the VFX team of Blueberry,
feature film directed by Jan Kounen
(Ajoz productions).
After this production, I was given the chance to supervise severals
commercials while still working as a CG artist on other projects.
My skills in 2D compositing, as well as in 3D rendering convinced the
Mac Guff executives to help me move into another dimension : the supervision.
This was quite a new challenge : Discuss with the director and the DOP
to get the best plate, going on the set, manage a team, keep the deadline in
mind, have both an artistic and technical eye on the project, but it also helps
me wanting more from myself and from the team I was working with. All the
knowledge I learned as a CG artist, I was happy to share with the guys part of my team in order to
have a smooth production and to avoid complications during the process, and
also find solutions when it seems we were in a dead end. After 7 years within
Mac Guff, I think its time for me to move on new horizons, new work experience, new challenges.
Feature Film Experience
My talent
I know how to build a shot, both technically and artistically. I’m able
to see from the beginning what implies such or such demand. Of course my
studies and experiences helped me but I think that the diversity really play a
great role in the construction of my professional mentality. All the people I
met, all the skills I learned helped me having a global vision of a shot. I try
as much as possible to convey this sense of wide vision to the people I’m
working with, as well as others did with me. I have a personal vision of the
shot I’m working on, and I also keep in mind a vision of the whole film. And,
as a supervisor, I want the team to have a wide vision of film all along the
production, even if we’re just at the animatic step, as well.I have also strong
knowledges in photography.
Academic
Qualifications
After high school graduation (economic diploma), I integrated SUPINFOCOM Valenciennes in 1995.
During 4 years, I was taught how to do an animation film. The degree was
divided into 2 blocks of 2 years each.
The first part was dedicated to a general overview of how to create an
animation film, we studied general cinema history, basic animation skills,
colours, perspective, drawings.
This first part is dedicated to develop graphic and artistic
personality.
The second part is devoted to 2D and 3D animation, mainly with the
software usages and the conception, direction and finalisation of a short film
(counting for the final degree exam). From the writing to the finalisation,
those 2 years are dedicated to create a real film. Starting with the writing,
the storyboard and the animatic, the first year of this part is really
dedicated to 2D. The next year, it’s the development of the project in 3D from
animation to rendering, through compositing, lighting matte etc….
At the end of the final year, a jury of professionals (producers, famous
animation directors, teachers) evaluate our work and give us their final
feeling above 4 years of work. I ended this years with a mention of the jury.
